Since 2016 the UK government funded a research project entitled “The Extremism Research Forum”, conducted by a team of local researchers. The research aims at addressing a series of questions including those about forms and threats of extremism, drivers of radicalisation, at-risk communities, links to organised crime and transnational co-operation in the Western Balkans – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.
