Taking into account that Spain has been suffering the deadly consequences of the terroristphenomenon for decades, it is easy to understand that the fight against terrorism invariably represents one of the top priorities on the Spanish Government’s political agenda. In orderto fight this specific kind of very serious offence, a broad range of measures and proceedings ofvarious types (legal, institutional, judicial, police related, etc.) has been developed over the years. Spain maintains a global and joint approach in the fight against terrorism. The following ministries, with competence in this matter, participate in this fight: the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation, the Ministry of Economy and Treasury, the Ministry of Justiceand the Ministry of the Presidency.
