This research paper analyzes the politicial and radical extremist landscape in Hungary, focusing on the growing trend of radical and far-right narratives in politicial discourse and the increasing populist narrative that Hungary’s popilitical parties are leaning towards. In Hungary, the government’s shift towards the far-right accelerated in 2017, as did the apparent moderation of what may be considered the largest opposition party, Jobbik – Movement for a Better Hungary (Jobbik). The latter’s leadership claims Jobbik is becoming a “people’s party”. These two contradictory trends define the whole of the Hungarian political space, considering the fact that these are the two most popular political parties in the country, and their strategies are not independent of one other.
